BY WHOM, WHEN AND HOW THE SABBATH WAS TRANSFERRED TO SUNDAY

FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

BY WHOM, WHEN AND HOW THE SABBATH WAS TRANSFERRED TO SUNDAY

What was the response of the bishops assembled at the Council of Nicene to Constantine’s perverted concept of conversion that he sent as an instruction to them? Does the record say they prayed to God for enlightenment, guidance and direction, as under shepherds and men of God should always do? No! Instead:

“The bishops were only TOO WlLLING to follow the emperor’s instructions. and the result was DISASTROUS to the church. J. A. W. Neander in the following paragraph some of the results of this policy:

‘Such were those who, without any real interest whatsoever to the concerns of religion, living half in Paganism and half in an outward show of Christianity, composed the CROWDS that thronged the CHURCHES on the festivals of the Christians, and the THEATERS on the festivals of the Pagans.’ – ‘History of the Christian Religion and Church,’ Vol. II, Sec. 3, Part I, Div. 1, par. 1, p. 233. Boston. 1855.

“No wonder Rev. H.H. Milmann exclaims:
‘Is this Paganism approximating to Christianity, or Christianity degrading to Paganism under another form??’- Ibid, p. 412.

“Eusebius, bishop of Caesarea, and an admirer of Constantine,  co-operated with him in bringing ‘the venerable day of the Sun’ into the Christian church. Speaking of POPE SYLVESTER, CONSTANTINE, and HIMSELF [Eusebius], he says:

“All things whatsoever that it was a duty to do on the Sabbath these things WE have transferred to the Lord’s day, as more appropriately belonging to it, because it has a PRECEDENCE and is FIRST in rank and more honorable than the Jewish Sabbath. For on that day, in making the world, God said, ‘Let there be light, and there was light.’ – ‘ Commentary on the Psalm;’ quoted in ‘Literature on the Sabbath Question,’ Robert Cox, Vol. 1, p. 361.

“Eusebius evidently used the strongest argument he knew as proof for Sunday keeping: but advocates of this new holiday had probably not yet considered the IDEA that Christ’s RESURRECTION would be an argument in favor of Sunday-keeping, so he used creation instead!”

Many Christians today are using the latter reason as to why they keep Sunday! No wonder the papacy’s question as to why they keep Sunday instead of the Sabbath, as the Bible clearly teaches, remains unanswerable Biblically! Only the truth can set man free from the bondage of error and sin! Bless all, NMF

BISHOPS OF DENMARK AND NORWAY HONESTLY ADDRESSED THE SABBATH-SUNDAY PROBLEM

FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

BISHOPS OF DENMARK AND NORWAY HONESTLY ADDRESSED THE SABBATH-SUNDAY PROBLEM

“Bishop Skat Rordam, of Denmark, says:
‘As to  whom and how it became customary to keep the first day of the week the New Testament gives no information…..The first law about it was given by Constantine the Great, who in the year 321 ordained that all civil and shop work should cease in the CITIES, but AGrICULTURAL LABOR IN THE COUNTRY was permitted….

‘Still no one thought of basing this command to rest from labor on the 3rd [4th] commandment BEFORE the latter half of the SIXTH CENTURY. From that time on, little by little, it became the established doctrine of the church during its ‘DARK AGES,’ that the holy church [?] and its teachers, or the bishops of the Roman Pope at their head, as the Vicar of Christ and His holy apostles on earth [?!], had TRANSFERRED the Old Testament Sabbath with its glory and sanctity over unto the first day of the week.’ – ‘Report of the Second Ecclesiastical Meeting in Copenhagen, Sept. 13-15, 1897,’ P. Taaning, pp. 40, 41. Copenhagen, 1887.

“Bishop A. Grimelund, of Norway, says:
‘Now, summing up what HISTORY teaches regarding the ORIGIN of Sunday and the development of the doctrine about Sunday, then this is the sum: It is NOT the apostles, nor the early Christians, not the councils of the ancient church which have imprinted the NAME and STAMP of the Sabbath upon the Sunday, but it is the CHURCH OF THE MIDDLE AGES and its scholastic teachers.’- ‘Sondagen Histori’ (The History of Sunday), p. 37, Christiana: 1886.

‘What do we learn from this HISTORICAL REVIEW? ……That it is a doctrine which ORIGINATED IN THE PAPAL CHURCH that the sanctification of the Sunday is enjoined in the 3rd [4th] commandment, and that the essential and permanent in this commandment is a COMMAND from God [?!] to keep it holy one day each week.’ -Ibid, pp. 47, 48.”- “Facts of Faith,” Christian Edwardson, Southern Publishing Asso.,(Revised), 1943, p.108.

“Stamp” is synonymous with “mark,” “seal,” and “sign.” It is critical that we know for a certainty when the Dark Ages began, and what three things had to happen before the papacy could be fully formed!

Stay tuned and connected; remain on the prophetic track we are on! Bless all, NMF

WHAT THE AUTHOR OF THE ‘BAPTIST MANUAL’ SAYS ABOUT THE BURNING ISSUE OF WHICH IS THE TRUE SABBATH

FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

WHAT THE AUTHOR OF THE ‘BAPTIST MANUAL’ SAYS ABOUT THE BURNING ISSUE OF WHICH IS THE TRUE SABBATH

“Dr. Edward D. Hiscox, author of the ‘Baptist Manual’ says:
‘There was and is a commandment to keep holy the Sabbath day, but that Sabbath day was not Sunday. It will be said, however, with some show of triumph [?!], that the Sabbath was TRANSFERRED from the seventh day to first day of the week, with all the duties, privileges, and sanctions. Earnestly desiring INFORMATION on this subject, which I have studied for many years, I ASK, where can the record of such a transaction [change] be found? NOT in the New Testament, absolutely not. There is NO Scriptural evidence of the change of the Sabbath institution from the seventh to the first day of the week.

‘‘I wish to say that this SABBATH QUESTION, in this aspect of it [the ‘transactional change’] is THE GRAVEST and MOST PERPLEXING QUESTION CONNECTED WITH CHRISTIAN PEOPLE; and the only reason that it is not a MORE DISTURBING ELEMENT in Christian thought and in religious discussions, is BECAUSE the Christian world has settled down CONTENT on the conviction that SOMEHOW a transference has taken place at the beginning of Christian history.

‘To me, it seems UNACCOUNTABLE that Jesus during three ears’ intercourse with His disciples, often conversing with them upon the SABBATH QUESTION, discussing it in some of its various aspects, FREEING it from the false glosses, NEVER ALLUDED TO A TRANSFERENCE of the day; also that during 40 days of His resurrection life, no such thing was intimated.

‘Nor so far as we know, did the (Holy) Spirit which was given ‘to bring to their remembrance all things whatsoever He had said unto them,’ deal with this question. Nor yet did the inspired apostles, IN PREACHING THE GOSPEL, founding churches, counseling and instructing those founded, discuss or approach this subject.

‘Of course I quite well know that Sunday did come into the early Christian history as a religious day, as we learn from the Christian Fathers and other sources. But what a PITY it comes BRANDED with the mark of Paganism, and christened with the name of the SUN-GOD, when adopted and sanctioned by the PAPAL APOSTASY, and bequeathed as a sacred legacy(??) to PROTESTANTISM!’” – A paper read before a New York Ministers’ Conference, held Nov. 13, 1893. From a copy furnished by Dr. Hiscox for the ‘Source Book,’ pp. 513, 514. Wash., D.C., Review & Herald, 1892 – Facts of Faith, Christian Edwardson, pp.107, 108. Southern Pub.Asso., 1943.

Bless all, but only with and in the truth as it is in Jesus, NMF.

SINS: PURGED AT CALVARY, PURIFICATION CONTINUES

August 9, 2020

FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

SINS: PURGED AT CALVARY, PURIFICATION CONTINUES

May the Sabbath blessings received yesterday anchor our faith and feet as we hopefully forge forward to complete another week that brings us closer to our desired haven of rest! Let’s pickup where we left off last Friday:

The phrase under consideration (Heb.1:3) ‘purification of sins,’ Wescott says, ‘may express either (1) the cleansing of sins, i.e., the removal of the sins. Compare Matt. 8:3; Job 7:21 (Exo.30:10), or (2) the cleansing of the person FROM sins.’  The Epistle to the Hebrews, p.15.”

THE SECRET OF WHY THE SANCTUARY DOCTRINE IS IGNORED OR OPPOSED BY MAINSTREAM CHRISTIANITY

June 28 2020

FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

THE SECRET OF WHY THE SANCTUARY DOCTRINE IS IGNORED OR OPPOSED BY MAINSTREAM CHRISTIANITY

“Behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man shutters; and shutteth, and no man openeth.” Rev. 3: 7, 8.

These “doors” refer to the door to the holy and door to the most holy places of the heavenly sanctuary where Christ has been ministering as our merciful High Priest since His ascension after His resurrection two thousand years ago in 31 A.D.

Of the faithful believers of the Advent Movement who were studying the prophecies, “None could fail to see that if the EARTHLY sanctuary was a FIGURE or a PATTERN of the heavenly, the LAW deposited in the ark on earth was and EXACT TRANSCRIPT of the law in the ark in heaven; and that an ACCEPTANCE of the truth concerning the heavenly sanctuary involved and ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of the claims of God’s law, and THE OBLIGATION OF THE SABBATH  OF THE FOURTH COMMANDMENT.

COVETOUSNESS BRINGS WEAKNESS AND SPIRITUAL DECLENSION AMONG GOD’S PEOPLE

June 21, 2020

FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

COVETOUSNESS BRINGS WEAKNESS AND SPIRITUAL DECLENSION AMONG GOD’S PEOPLE.

The name Achan means, “Achar, the troubler if Israel.” 1 Chron. 2:7, KJV. In the New Testament, the antitype of ancient Israel is the church, ekklesia, “the called out ones.” The generic church, like ancient Israel, is also of two classes: apostate Christianity who have done away with God’s law and worship an idol sabbath, as apostate Israel worshipped Baal, the Phoenician sun-god, and the remnant church who “keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus” (Rev. 14:12) and “have the spirit of prophecy which is the testimony of Jesus Christ”(Rev. 19:10).

The Battle for the ‘Present Truth’

The Battle for the ‘Present Truth’

“Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in present truth.” 2 Peter 1: 12 (see verses 1-11), Authorized Version

Jesus Christ, God Creator in the flesh (John 1: 14; 1 Tim. 3: 16) declared, “I am the way, the truth and the life,” John 14: 6. “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, If you continue (abide) in My Word, you are My disciples indeed, and you shall know truth, and the truth shall set you free.” John 8: 31, 32.

In the plan of salvation the “good news” of the gospel is that Creator of man, condescended in the incarnation to become the Savior of mankind, fallen by sin and hopeless captives of Satan, by delivering, “setting them free” by His life example as a man, “tempted in all points as man is tempted yet without sin,” and by His death on the cross as their substitute and surety from, not in, the power and bondage to sin which is “the transgression of the law (1 John 3: 4). Hence the specific name given Him at His birth, “Thou shalt call His name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins.” Matt. 1: 21. Notice here that while Jesus died for the sins of the world, He saves His people from their sins! That is the truth.

BEWARE OF OUR OLD SUPERSTITIONS & FEARS

June 5, 2020

FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

BEWARE OF OUR OLD SUPERSTITIONS & FEARS

As the Israelites impatiently waited for Moses (reminding us of how impatiently the first king of Israel, Saul, waited for prophet Samuel, and committed his first apostasy), something happened that lead worst things:

“Feeling their HELPLESSNESS in the absence  of their leader, they RETURNED  to their OLD SUPERSTITIONS.

“The ‘mixed multitude’ had been the first to INDULGE murmurings and impatience, and they were the LEADERS in the APOSTASY that followed.
