WHY OUR TRUST IN GOD IS SO UNSTABLE

October 11, 2020

FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

WHY OUR TRUST IN GOD IS SO UNSTABLE

“Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shall thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.” Ps. 37: 3, KJV.

“‘Trust in the Lord.’ Each day has its burdens, it’s cares, and perplexities: and when we meet, how ready we are to talk of our difficulties and trials.”

Where do many of these trials come from? “So many BORROWED troubles intrude, so many fears are INDULGED, such a weight of anxiety is expressed, that one might almost suppose that we had NO pitying, loving Savior, ready to hear all our requests, and be to us a ‘present help in every time of need.

“Some are always fearing and borrowing trouble. Everyday they are surrounded with the tokens of God’s love, every day they are enjoying the bounties of His providence, but they OVERLOOK this present blessings. Their minds are continually dwelling upon something DISAGREEABLE which they fear may come of some difficulty may really exist, which, though SMALL, blinds their eyes to the many things which demand GRATITUDE.

“The difficulties, which they encounter, instead of driving them to God, the only source of help, SEPARATE them from Him, because they awaken unrest and repining.

“Brethren and sisters, do we well to be thus UNBELIEVING? Why should we be UNGRATEFUL and DISTRUSTFUL? Jesus is our Friend. All heaven is interested in our welfare: and our anxiety and fear GRIEVE the Holy Spirit of God!

“We should not indulge in a solicitude which only frets and wears us, but does not help us bear trials.

“No place should be given to that distrust of God which leads us to make a PREPARATION against future want, the CHIEF pursuit of life, as though our HAPPINESS consisted in these EARTHLY things, and we could gain them while IGNORING the fact that God controls all things.” – E.G. White, This Day with God, p. 42.

How often Christians grieve the Holy Spirit, not by doing wicked things or being “trouble-makers” but by being “trouble-borrowers.” To make things even worse, they allow the trials resulting from their choices to separate them from God instead of driving them to Him, the only Source of help! That’s self-inflicted double jeopardy.

Indeed “an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.” God help us all, NMF.

DAILY BATTLES, DAILY VICTORIES

September 29, 2020

FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

DAILY BATTLES, DAILY VICTORIES

“Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

1 Cor. 15:57.

“Victories are not gained by ceremonies or display, but by simple obedience to the highest General, the Lord God of heaven. He who trusts [and obeys] this Leader [the ‘great I Am,’ ‘the Lord of hosts,’ ‘the mighty God and Prince of peace,’ ‘the Lion of the tribe of Judah,’ ‘the King of kings and Lord of lords’] will never know defeat!

Here’s the thing. “The largest share of the annoyances of life, it’s DAILY corroding cares, it’s heartaches, it’s irritations, is a result of TEMPER uncontrolled. [intemperance, the opposite of temperance, one of the ‘fruits of the Spirit’].

ONE DAY AT A TIME DAILY

July 7 2020

FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

ONE DAY AT A TIME DAILY

“Hear my cry, O God: attend unto my prayer…So will I sing praise unto Thy name for ever, that I may DAILY perform my vows.”

Psalms 61: 1, 8, A.V. (Read verses 1-8 for yourself)

“Trust in Him AT ALL TIMES: ye people, pour out your heart before Him: God is a refuge for us [at all times!].”

Ps. 62:8

“How thankful I am that we have only one day to live at a time. One day to keep our souls stayed upon [God by faith], one day to watch, one day to progress in the spiritual life, and thus our day may be fruitful, precious [not wasted] days to us.

TOO MUCH TIME RESULTED IN IDOLATRY AT SINAI

June 4, 2020

FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

TOO MUCH TIME RESULTED IN IDOLATRY AT SINAI

With the whole nation, spiritual Israel suddenly found plenty of time on hand, in fact too much. Here is a solemn lesson and a dire warning from the example of ancient Israel as to what they did when Moses and Joshua went up to Mt. Sinai to receive the Law from God:

“While Moses was absent, it was a time of WAITING and SUSPENSE to Israel. The people KNEW that he had ascended the mount with Joshua, and had entered the cloud of thick darkness. which could be seen in the plain below, resting in the mountain peak, illuminated from time to time with the lightning of the divine presence.”

TASTE TEST TO TRUST

May 8, 2020

FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

TASTE TEST TO TRUST

“O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.” Ps.34:8.

As they say, “the proof of the pie is in eating.” So with the Bible truth. “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul… SWEETER than the honey and the honeycomb,”wrote the psalmist.

“How shall we know for ourselves God’s goodness and His love? The psalmist tells us—not, hear and know, read and know; but—‘TASTE and see that the Lord is good.’ Instead of relying upon the word of another, taste for yourself.”

NO VICTORY WITHOUT SUBMISSION & CO-OPERATION WITH CHRIST

April 19, 2020
FROM YOUR PASTOR ‘S DESK:

NO VICTORY WITHOUT SUBMISSION & CO-OPERATION WITH CHRIST

Good morning on the 31st day since our state’s governor declared a lock-down as a major mitigation strategy against the covid-19 enemy.

It’s for you to assess as to where tide is turning. Everyone has his own take and only time will tell if their hunches and determinations were sound or unsound.

Remember the first day of the Creator’s week, is today which the world, not the Bible calls Sunday, for that was what it really was, the day dedicated to the sun, an inanimate body to “rule the day.”

HOW MUCH DO WE REALLY TRUST GOD?

April 3, 2020

FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

HOW MUCH DO WE REALLY TRUST GOD?

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord and depart from all evil. It will be health to your flesh and strength to your bones.” Prov.3:5-8,NKJV.

If ever we needed health to our flesh and strength to our bones, it is now in the midst of this combined pandemic of a coronavirus + fear+ lack of trust. We forget, even as we like to say “God is in control,” that God uses divinely calibrated-and-controlled trials to test, develop and perfect our faith and trust in Him, not on our own understanding neither in finite institutions of men.

IS UNCHANGING GOD OR CHANGING CIRCUMSTANCES CONTROLLING US?

March 18 2020
MID-WEEK MESSAGE FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

IS UNCHANGING GOD OR CHANGING CIRCUMSTANCES CONTROLLING US?

“For He Himself has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you. So we may boldly say: the Lord [of the Sabbath] is my Helper; I will not fear what man [or the Coronavirus] can do to me.” Heb. 13: 5,6.  What is the great want in the world today? “The great want in the world is the want of men—men who will not be bought or sold, men who in their inmost souls are true and honest, men who do not fear to call sin by its right name, men whose conscience is true to duty as the needle to the pole, men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall.” Education, 57.  “Man can make his circumstances, but circumstances should NEVER make the man.
