SPIRITUAL PRIDE SAYS: ‘I HAVE NEED OF NOTHING’

May 7, 2020

FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

SPIRITUAL PRIDE SAYS: ‘I HAVE NEED OF NOTHING’

As keepers of the commandments of God, we profess to be the people of God at the present time. And that is true. What is equally true is that our spiritual condition of lukewarmness distorts our spiritual vision so that we fail to see the importance, beauty, and power of the grace of true humility. We think we know and have everything.

But the True Witness has a very specific message and warning for us! When He says, “know ye not,” He reveals that this spiritual blindness is directly responsible for denying and depriving ourselves of the fullest blessings and benefits that true humility brings in its train!

Are We A Saving Influence?

September 23, 2019

QUOTE FOR THE WEEK FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

Are We A Saving Influence?

See 2 Cor. 2:15, 16 first. Savor means “aroma” and “influence.”  Throw a pebble into a lake, and a wave is formed, and another, and another. As they increase the circle widens, until it reaches the very shore.

Beyond our knowledge or control it tells upon others in blessing OR cursing. Character is power.

The Fall of Angels and the Fall of Man Contrasted

Human nature is made of flesh and blood, not of spirit, as angels with angel nature were. The crowning act of creation, having been made in the image and likeness of the Creator, man in human nature was endowed with a rational mind, an intelligent will, “the governing power in the nature of man.” It is the power to intellectually and spiritually perceive/discern between right from wrong, good from evil and then to act upon that determination as a matter of conviction, voluntarily, willingly, and then through constant practice, spontaneously.

Second Half of the Seven Thunders: the Moral Fall of the Churches

This Thanksgiving, let’s thank God for religious liberty and helping us better understand what the “seven thunders” were–a delineation of clustered events and time prophecies that would be understood only after the events had accomplished their appointed work. These are:

And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eight and is of the seven, and goeth to perdition. Revelation 17: 11, K.J.V.

FRIDAY MORNING MANNA

And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eight and is of the seven, and goeth to perdition. Revelation 17: 11, K.J.V.

That is, the “eighth beast” who “was,” and “is not”—is “of the seven beasts,” “and “goes into perdition.”

This last “beast” or “eight” beast is not another separate beast in the line of succession of the prophetic beast of sacred and world history. He is “of the seven” previous beasts, and, clearly, the final composite form of the outstanding characteristics of all the rest. This follows the given explanation of the leopard-like beast in the introduction of Revelation 13.

God’s reveal: it’s the System, not the People

QUOTE FOR THE WEEK

“It is more palatable to human nature to do penance than to renounce sin.”

– Ellen G. White, 4SOP 383.

Are you finding yourself somehow attracted to the bigly distractions of political theater and stunts sweeping across America?  Do you find some kind of a twisted, guilty  pleasure of watching and listening to the “sounds of war” in both sophisticated and blatant lying, accusations and denials causing confusion that appear to rule the day?

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

“We have yet to learn that the whole Jewish economy is a compacted prophecy of the gospel. It is the gospel in figures. E. G. White, Manuscript 130, Nov. 23, 1897.

As seen through the interlocking strands of prophecy and history, the remnant church of the last days sums up

True Happiness According to the Scriptures

FRIDAY MORNING MANNA

True Happiness According to the Scriptures

Happy is the man who finds, and the man who gains understanding . . . . her ways are the ways of pleasantness, and all her ways are peace . . . .and happy are all who retain her(see Proverbs 3: 13-18, NKJV.)

HAPPY NEW YEAR! But how do we make this really happen? Is there fail-proof formula? By what metric do we measure this specific happiness’ index? In what meaningful sense will 2018 really be new? How did we start it beginning New Year’s Eve, i.e., by sunset of January 31 of the 1017?

Was it “peaceful and quiet with family members,” as the pleasant pharmacy tech at Loma Linda Community Pharmacy told me yesterday or like the world celebrates with a super-boosted adrenaline trip from a sugar high and other popular boosters through to past midnight, winding up with a nasty headache and a downer “rainy days and Mondays” feeling —into the very first day of the New Year?  “A journey of a thousand miles [or a year] begins with the first step.”
