GODLY REPENTANCE DELAYED IS PARDON DENIED

June 22, 2020

FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

GODLY REPENTANCE DELAYED IS PARDON DENIED

“For godly sorrow produces repentance to salvation, not to be regretted [or repented of]; but the sorrow of the world produces death.” 2 Cor. 9:10, NKJV (See verses 8-11).

Even as ‘justice delayed is justice denied,’ Achan’s deadly sin of covetousness produced a “worldly,” not a godly repentance. This is possibly one of the deadliest combinations of sins. Achan lost both temporal and eternal life!

Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.

August 19, 2019

QUOTE FOR THE WEEK FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

“Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.” Ps. 141: 3.

“In the use of language there is perhaps no error that we pass over lightly than hasty, impatient speech. But God’s Word does not treat it lightly. The largest share of life’s annoyances, its heartaches, it’s irritations, is due to uncontrolled temper.

In one moment, by hasty, passionate, careless words, may be wrought evil that’s whole lifetime’s repentance cannot undo. Oh, the hearts that are broken, the friends estranged, the lives wrecked, by the harsh, hasty words of those who might have brought help and healing.

Biblical Numerology: NUMBER TWO- Part III

Conversion and Renovation. After true conversion (and reconversion, whenever necessary), the Christian’s path forward is growth, character renovation (or perfection, Matt. 5: 48, K.J.V.)—a progressive process of a lifetime covering the whole person–mind, heart, body, and spirit (vital principle; mental disposition). In His wisdom and love, God converted fallen, cursed earth into the fitting-up place for Heaven–not some conjured-up place “between heaven and hell” called “Purgatory!”

Safe and Sound. It begins with deliverance from the despotic and enslaving power of sin— being saved (rescued, snatched) from the clutches of Satan, the tempter, deceiver, accuser, and destroyer of man. Rescued from this spiritually and physically degraded condition, the now “saved” soul is to be made sound—i.e., freed from defects; flawless.
