THE CHRISTIAN SOLDIER’S GIRDLE OF TRUTH

July 17, 2020

FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

THE CHRISTIAN SOLDIER’S GIRDLE OF TRUTH

“Stand therefore, having your loins [of the mind] girt about with truth.”

Eph. 6:14, A.V. (See verses 10-18).

“There is absolutely no safeguard against evil but truth. No man can stand firm for right in whose heart the truth does not abide. There is only one power that can make and keep us steadfast [in the truth]—the power of God, imparted to us by the grace of Christ [through the Holy Spirit.

CHRIST PROMISED THE HOLY SPIRIT: WHAT FOR?

July 15, 2020

FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

CHRIST PROMISED THE HOLY SPIRIT: WHAT FOR?

“I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever: even the Spirit of truth.”

John 14: 16,17, A.V.

“Before offering Himself as the sacrificial victim, Christ sought for the MOST ESSENTIAL AND COMPLETE GIFT to bestow upon His followers, a gift that would bring within their reach THE BOUNDLESS RESOURCES OF GRACE.[John 14:16-18 quoted].

“Before this the Spirit had been in the world; from the very beginning of the work of redemption He has been moving upon men’s hearts. But while Christ [the incarnated Creator] was in earth, the disciples desired no other Helper. Not until they were deprived of His presence would they feel their need of the Spirit, and then He would come.

GOD ENCOURAGES AND WARNS

July 5 2020

FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

GOD ENCOURAGES AND WARNS

“Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and show My people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.”

Isa. 58:1, Authorized Version.

Like the gospel-prophet, God’s last-day messenger wrote these admonitions to His people of the last days, the spiritual house of Jacob:

“Hypocrisy is peculiarly offensive to God. A large majority of men and women who profess the truth PREFER SMOOTH MESSAGES. They do not desire to have their sins and defects brought before them. They want ACCOMMODATING MINISTERS, who will not arouse conviction by speaking the truth. They choose men who will FLATTER them, and in their turn they FLATTER the minister who has chosen such a ‘good’ spirit, while they REVILE the faithful servant of God.

Understanding the Spiritual Kingdom of God

“And when He was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of should come, He answered them and said, ‘The kingdom of God cometh not with observation (outward show, margin): neither shall they say, ‘Lo here! or lo there! For, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”

Luke 17: 20, 21, KJV, Authorized Version

According to the Bible a king is: “A male sovereign in whom is invested supreme authority over a tribe or nation. Generally, rule is for life and succession is on a hereditary basis. That over which he rules is called a kingdom.

“The kings of ancient heathen nations were often considered as deities or direct descendants of a deity. [The Egyptian kings, known as pharaohs, were worshipped as deities in the first atheistic world empire, ancient Egypt].

All Earthly Kingdoms Headed for History’s Dustbin

All Earthly Kingdoms Headed for History’s Dustbin

“Blessed by the name of the Lord forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings [and kingdoms] and raises up kings [and kingdoms].” See Daniel 2: 20-22, NKJV.

Lest we forget or lose sight of the far greater and grander things and issues of eternal consequences with all these distractions and schemes of Satan and fall victims to the worst yet to come, we fretful, fitful, “busybody” finite mortals need to calm down and “come down to earth from our imaginary high places” and be reminded that:—

GREATER CALAMITY: COVID-19 OR COVETOUSNESS?

June 23, 2020

FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

GREATER CALAMITY: COVID-19 OR COVETOUSNESS?

“Therefore be followers of God as dear children, and walk in love, as Christ has also loved us…. But fornication and all uncleanness or COVETOUSNESS, let it not be even NAMED among you, as is fitting for saints, neither filthiness nor foolish talking nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. For this you know, that NO fornicator, unclean person, nor COVETOUS MAN, WHO IS AN IDOLATER, HAS ANY INHERITANCE IN THE KINGDOM OF CHRIST AND GOD..” Eph. 5: 1-5, NKJV (See verses 6-27).

“Let it not be even NAMED among you.” “Named,” is from the Greek onomatopoeia, meaning “to name, i.e., assign an appellation; to utter, mention, profess, call.”

Elisha’s Three Successive Different Prayers of Faith

Elisha’s Three Successive Different Prayers of Faith

(Based on: 2 Kings 6: 8-33; as told in Prophets and Kings, ch.21)

Before Elijah, only the second man after Enoch (the seventh of the godly patriarchs from Adam), was translated, God hand-picked Elisha to succeed, continue and expand on Elijah’s prophetic and reformation ministry. Elisha’s father was an affluent yet God-fearing farmer whose household were among “the seven thousand who had not bowed the knee to Baal during the time of well-nigh universal apostasy of Israel during the reign of king Ahab and queen Jezebel, his wicked and cruel heathen wife. See 1 Kings 19: 1-10, 11-20.

To underscore our focus today on faith versus fear, we cite the examples of two faith giants, Moses and Elijah, compared and contrasted to Christ’s temptations, who at their weakest moments, which were few were few and far in between yet momentous, allowed their faith to be temporarily overcome by fear. They yielded to the temptation to fear. Anytime and every time we yield t0 any temptation we sin against God. The following is quoted from Prophets and Kings:

JESUS MAGNIFIED HIS LAW & MADE IT HONORABLE: HOW ABOUT THE RELIGIOUS LEADERS?

June 10 2020

FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

JESUS MAGNIFIED HIS LAW & MADE IT HONORABLE: HOW ABOUT THE RELIGIOUS LEADERS? See Isa 42:21

“Many religious teachers assert [who claim ‘the Bible and the Bible only’ as the basis of faith] assert that Christ by His death abolished the law, and men are henceforth free from its requirements. There are some [multitudes by now] who represent it as a ‘grievous yoke’; and in contrast to the ‘bondage of the law,’ they present the ‘liberty’ to be enjoyed under the gospel.

“But NOT SO did the prophets and apostles regard the holy law of God. Said David, ‘I will walk at liberty: for I seek Thy precepts.’Ps.119:45. The apostle James who wrote AFTER the death of Christ, refers to the Decalogue as the ‘royal law’ [Law of the King and His kingdom]’ and the ‘perfect law of liberty.’ James 2:8; 1:25.
