Does Imparted Divine Nature Make Man Divine?

First, while the originator of sin—Lucifer, and the nature of original sin–self-seeking, are revealed, the origin of sin itself or a reasonfor its existence are not, or at least, not yet this side of the resurrection morning while yet in the mortal flesh. Notice the following:

“It is impossible to explain the origin of sin, or to give a reason for its existence. It is an intruder for whose existence no reason can be given. It is mysterious, unaccountable; to excuse it; is to defend it. Could it be excused, could a cause be shown for its existence, it would cease to be sin. Our only definition of sin is that given in the word of God; it is ‘the transgression of the law [1 John 3: 4].’” – Spirit of Prophecy, vol. 4, p. 316, 1884.

The Four Different Natures Contrasted

The Four Different Natures Contrasted

In the Bible there are four distinctly separate natures that follow this descending order: divine, angelic, human, and animal. They are never interchangeable, divisible, or evolutionary.

The Divine Nature. The Godhead, comprised of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are alone divine. To them exclusively belongs and emanates from mysterious life—original, unborrowed and underived. Thus, life is the greatest manifestation of God. These “three who are One” (1 John 3: 4) are alone immortal, uncreated, eternal, having no beginning and no end. Without God there is no life and without life there is nothing, not even void, much less a “dark hole.” God in Christ is the great I AM. “I AM that I AM” means not subject to time nor to space, circumstance, or anything. As Jesus declared to the unbelieving Jews: “Verily I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM” not “I was.” (John 8: 58).

The Fall of Angels and the Fall of Man Contrasted

Human nature is made of flesh and blood, not of spirit, as angels with angel nature were. The crowning act of creation, having been made in the image and likeness of the Creator, man in human nature was endowed with a rational mind, an intelligent will, “the governing power in the nature of man.” It is the power to intellectually and spiritually perceive/discern between right from wrong, good from evil and then to act upon that determination as a matter of conviction, voluntarily, willingly, and then through constant practice, spontaneously.

Is There Room for Pluralism? (The Incarnation)

IV. Is There Room for Pluralism? (The Incarnation)

Pluralism asserts that Christ adopted both the unfallen (sinless, prelapsarian) and unfallen (sinless, postlapsarian) human natures. First, I found that both sides of the controversy have very compelling Scriptural reasons or interpretations thereof, for adopting their opposing views.  Therefore, as a sort of a neutral approach, I initially started out mentally figuring out whether enough of each side’s position on this dichotomy could produce an acceptable “amalgamation” in my mind that would help relieve the tension between the two and maybe even contribute a bit to helping diffuse the controversy. But what this initial attempt turned out to be was a more detailed consideration of both sides, plus some.

The Humanity of Christ: What was It? (Continued from last week)

No. 6:  The Indispensable Role of the Holy Spirit

“The Holy Spirit, which proceeds from the only-begotten Son of God, binds the human agent, body, soul, and spirit, to the perfect, divine-human nature of Christ.”

How many church creeds specifically declare that it is the Holy Spirit that binds the true believer, i.e., body, mind, soul and spirit to the perfect divine-human nature of Christ? How many of those still debating this issue will give this saving truth the attention it fully deserves and bring it into their discussions? Into their set of beliefs?  Into their moral character-building?

The Humanity of Christ; What was It? II

The Humanity of Christ; What was It?II. PROMISES AND REWARDS OF STUDYING THIS SUBJECT

“We must come to the study of this subject with the humility of a learner, with a contrite heart. And the study of the incarnation of Christ, is a fruitful field and will repay the searcher who digs deep for hidden truth.”- Ibid, Vol. 7, p. 905 (emphasis supplied).

“The humanity of the Son of God is everything to us. It is the golden chain that binds our souls to Christ, and through Christ to God. This is to be our study.”- Selected Messages, Vol. 1, p. 244.

“When we want a deep problem to study, let us fix our minds on the most marvelous thing that ever took place in earth or heaven—the incarnation of the Son of God.” 7 BC 904.

Three Inexhaustible Subjects Regarding Christ the Creator: His incarnation, His atoning sacrifice as the Lamb of God, and His mediatorial work as our High Priest.

“The theme of redemption is one that angels desire to look into; it will be the science and song of the redeemed throughout the ceaseless ages of eternity. Is it not worthy of our careful thought and study now? The subject is inexhaustible. [1] The study of the incarnation of Christ, [2] His atoning sacrifice, and [3] His mediatorial work will employ the mind of the diligent student as long as time shall last; and looking to heaven with its unnumbered years, he will exclaim, ‘Great is the mystery of godliness’ [1 Tim. 3:16].”- Signs of the Times, Apr. 18, 1906; My Life Today, p. 360 (emphasis supplied).

The Mystery of the Incarnation

“When we want a deep problem to study, let us fix our minds on the most marvelous thing that ever took place in earth or heaven—the incarnation of the Son of God.”– Vol. 7, E.G. White Comprehensive Bible Commentary, p. 904.

Before we move on with this marvelous subject, we all need to be reminded simply because the world and the churches have ignored or forgotten about—as they have the Bible Sabbath of the fourth commandment—the true origins of Easter just celebrated this past Sunday.

Mystery of Literal and Spiritual ‘Black Holes’Revealed

Mystery of Literal and Spiritual ‘Black Holes’Revealed

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness; God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up in glory. 1 Timothy 3: 16, N.K.J.V.

I’m an alumnus of PUCA Class ‘67. I fondly remember the late Reuel Reyes whom I know many of you fellow alumni do as well. During those halcyon years he, to me, was the second budding  younger genius of the campus to the primary one, Dr. Richli.  Reuel was the assistant Physics class instructor (a subject I had zero love for, not much to the delight of my aunt, the late Ester G. Manalaysay AKA as the “Miss Man” to her students of College Physics and other PUCIANs).
