The Great Gift-Giver

October 28, 2019

FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

Our Father in heaven, the Great Gift-giver of “every good and perfect gift,” answers our prayer requests oftentimes not in a big, dramatic miraculous package but in little packages, delivered daily at our doorsteps  that we may be trained to develop to perfection gratitude and praise from the heart and lips— two of the noblest attributes of the saints of the last days.

We all should unlearn the unlovely and unsaintly tendency and habit of carelessly taking for granted the “little” gifts, talents and opportunities. “He who is faithful in the least will be faithful in much.” There is no such thing as a “small” or a “little sin here and there.”

Does Imparted Divine Nature Make Us Divine?

Does Imparted Divine Nature Make Us Divine?

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”

2 Pet. 1: 2-4, N.K.J.V.

It is by the power of Christ’s divine nature—rather than His incarnated human nature—that He gives all things pertaining to life, i.e., both temporal and eternal, and godliness. To those who willingly respond to His call to character glory, hence, virtue, obtain a knowledge of Him in this particular regard.

When Will Humanity Ever Learn to Fully Trust Divinity?

Why did God Creator have to come down to fallen man’s level in the incarnation?

It was to demonstrate by “manifesting to the world, men and angels” for all eternity the truth of God’s undying and unconditional love for sinners, which likewise reveals the secret of victory of fallen man over Satan and sin, which is: the complete surrender of man man’s will to God’s will, the lost sinner’s will to the Savior’s will.

Beginning with ME

September 30, 2019

QUOTE FOR THE WEEK FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

“Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against God, bringing into captivity in the obedience to Christ.” 2 Cor. 10: 5.

Before it was an act, whether spoken or written, it was first a thought spawned in the womb of the mind. Words and actions are windows into the mind, providing a sneak peek as it were, into the current character of the person, beginning with ME.

Are We A Saving Influence?

September 23, 2019

QUOTE FOR THE WEEK FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

Are We A Saving Influence?

See 2 Cor. 2:15, 16 first. Savor means “aroma” and “influence.”  Throw a pebble into a lake, and a wave is formed, and another, and another. As they increase the circle widens, until it reaches the very shore.

Beyond our knowledge or control it tells upon others in blessing OR cursing. Character is power.

Burdens that Only Christ can Remove

September 2, 2019

QUOTE FOR THE WEEK FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:

“Come unto Me all ye that labor and are heavy-laden, and I will you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls.” Matt. 28: 11-30.

Whether we know it or not or are in denial, all are weary and heavy-laden— burdens that only Christ can remove. The heaviest burden we bear we bear is the burden of sin. If we were left to bear this burden, it would crush us. God became a man without ceasing to be God in the mystery of the incarnation.

Christ’s Humanity Suffered the Superhuman Agony of Soul in Gethsemane

Christ’s Humanity Suffered the Superhuman Agony of Soul in Gethsemane

The shedding of the atoning, sin-cleansing blood of the second Adam “for the remission of sins” may also be thought of as a short yet intense process commencing in the night of His last agony in Gethsemane and culminated Calvary. It began when He “sweated blood” through the pores of His noble human brow in His death struggle at Gethsemane as the guilt of the sins of the world were rolled upon His human nature and the Father “hid His face” from His only-begotten Son, causing the dreadful sense of separation and connection between Father and Son.

The Second Adam: The World’s Sin and Guilt Bearer

Jesus Christ, the “second” or “last Adam” (1 Cor. 15: 45-47)  was subject to the first death of all mortals because He had to die, not merely “walk in the valley of the shadow of death,” which He also did, but temporarily came under it as the one-and-only, once-and-for-all atoning sacrifice (Heb. 9: 25-28; 10: 10, 12, 14) that the Father made of His only-begotten Son at the antitypical altar of sacrifice of Calvary.

The “wages of sin is death.” Rom. 6: 23. In His death the second Adam, in His human nature “made in the likeness of sinful flesh,” did not die because He fell under the power of “him who had the power of death,” that is the devil” (Heb. 2: 14), because of the following:
