The Council of Trent of 1562, Archbishop Del Fosso: How the Foundation of Roman Catholic Authority was Laid

Jesus told the religious leaders of His day: “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written:  . . . In vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandments of God, you hold the Traditions of men . . . All too well you reject the commandments of God that you may keep your Tradition . . .  Making the word of God of no effect through your Tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do.” Mark 7: 6, 7, 9, 13, N.K.J.V.

THE TWO WITNESSES OF REVELATION CHAPTER 11

David, the “sweet psalmist and singer of Israel” wrote: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path,” and composed this song: “You are my lamp, O Lord; the Lord shall lighten my darkness. For by You I can run against a troop; by my God I can leap over a wall. As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is proven: He is a shield to all who trust in Him.” Ps. 119: 105; 2 Sam. 22: 29-31, N.K.J.V.

Solomon, whose name means “peaceable” and in one passage is called Jedidah, “beloved of Jehovah” (2 Sam. 12: 25), had God-given extraordinary “wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and largeness of heart like the sand of the seashore . . having “wisdom [that] excelled the wisdom of all the men of the East and all the wisdom of Egypt. For he was wiser than all men—than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, Chalcol, and the Darda, the sons of Mahol; and his fame was in all the surrounding nations.
