Is There Room for Pluralism? (The Incarnation)

IV. Is There Room for Pluralism? (The Incarnation)

Pluralism asserts that Christ adopted both the unfallen (sinless, prelapsarian) and unfallen (sinless, postlapsarian) human natures. First, I found that both sides of the controversy have very compelling Scriptural reasons or interpretations thereof, for adopting their opposing views.  Therefore, as a sort of a neutral approach, I initially started out mentally figuring out whether enough of each side’s position on this dichotomy could produce an acceptable “amalgamation” in my mind that would help relieve the tension between the two and maybe even contribute a bit to helping diffuse the controversy. But what this initial attempt turned out to be was a more detailed consideration of both sides, plus some.

Does Being ‘Born Again’ Change Sinful Flesh to Sinless Flesh?

Does Being ‘Born Again’ Change Sinful Flesh to Sinless Flesh?

JESUS CHRIST, whom Bible-based Christians (many hold tradition and Church teaching superior to the Bible) love, worship, obey and follow as the Shepherd of their souls, trusting in Him as their only Savior and Mediator, is nowhere mentioned per se in the Old Testament.

Does that mean He did not yet exist then, or if He did, who and in what form, where and what was He doing during the 4,000-year long patriarchal and Jewish dispensation, reckoned from creation? Did He arrive and make His appearance on earth only when He was born of Mary two thousand years ago, beginning the New Testament dispensation or Christian Era?

Christ ‘Manifested in the Flesh’ but only ‘in the Fullness of Time’

Christ ‘Manifested in the Flesh’ but only ‘in the Fullness of Time’

In his freshly-created, unfallen state, Adam failed the first simplest of tests of faith and loyalty to his Creator by disobeying the command not to partake of the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in Eden. He yielded to his wife’s temptation to partake of the forbidden fruit, which she had first tasted, deceived by Satan disguised as a serpent. 1 Tim. 2: 14; Gen. 3. Through inordinate love for his wife, Adam knowingly and willfully disobeyed God’s command, transgressed His law. The First Couple immediately became subject to death.

The Humanity of Christ: What was It? (Continued from last week)

No. 6:  The Indispensable Role of the Holy Spirit

“The Holy Spirit, which proceeds from the only-begotten Son of God, binds the human agent, body, soul, and spirit, to the perfect, divine-human nature of Christ.”

How many church creeds specifically declare that it is the Holy Spirit that binds the true believer, i.e., body, mind, soul and spirit to the perfect divine-human nature of Christ? How many of those still debating this issue will give this saving truth the attention it fully deserves and bring it into their discussions? Into their set of beliefs?  Into their moral character-building?

The Humanity of Christ; What was It? II

The Humanity of Christ; What was It?II. PROMISES AND REWARDS OF STUDYING THIS SUBJECT

“We must come to the study of this subject with the humility of a learner, with a contrite heart. And the study of the incarnation of Christ, is a fruitful field and will repay the searcher who digs deep for hidden truth.”- Ibid, Vol. 7, p. 905 (emphasis supplied).

“The humanity of the Son of God is everything to us. It is the golden chain that binds our souls to Christ, and through Christ to God. This is to be our study.”- Selected Messages, Vol. 1, p. 244.

“When we want a deep problem to study, let us fix our minds on the most marvelous thing that ever took place in earth or heaven—the incarnation of the Son of God.” 7 BC 904.

Three Inexhaustible Subjects Regarding Christ the Creator: His incarnation, His atoning sacrifice as the Lamb of God, and His mediatorial work as our High Priest.

“The theme of redemption is one that angels desire to look into; it will be the science and song of the redeemed throughout the ceaseless ages of eternity. Is it not worthy of our careful thought and study now? The subject is inexhaustible. [1] The study of the incarnation of Christ, [2] His atoning sacrifice, and [3] His mediatorial work will employ the mind of the diligent student as long as time shall last; and looking to heaven with its unnumbered years, he will exclaim, ‘Great is the mystery of godliness’ [1 Tim. 3:16].”- Signs of the Times, Apr. 18, 1906; My Life Today, p. 360 (emphasis supplied).

The Greatest Mega Dark Hole Can Never Suck in The Light of Life and Truth As It Is In Jesus

“Avoid profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called; which some professing have erred concerning the faith.” 1 Timothy 6: 20, K.J.V.

Last week we first laid down the vital, self-evident cautions and precautions, called “the parents of safety” whenever attempting to tread the holy ground of the Mystery of mysteries of Bible called “the great mystery of godliness” in the incarnation of Creator (1 Tim. 3: 16), remembering that “fools rush in where angels fear to tread.” David says who such fools are and why: “The fool has said in his heart (mind), there is no God.’ See Psalms 14: 1-3, 5, etc. If a journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step, hopefully, we have made those right steps, grounded in humility moving forward as we must, for inspiration tells us not only is this precious subject a fruitful field for study but the unfolding of truths emanating from and connected with it will continue through eternity for the redeemed.

The Mystery of the Incarnation

“When we want a deep problem to study, let us fix our minds on the most marvelous thing that ever took place in earth or heaven—the incarnation of the Son of God.”– Vol. 7, E.G. White Comprehensive Bible Commentary, p. 904.

Before we move on with this marvelous subject, we all need to be reminded simply because the world and the churches have ignored or forgotten about—as they have the Bible Sabbath of the fourth commandment—the true origins of Easter just celebrated this past Sunday.

Mystery of Literal and Spiritual ‘Black Holes’Revealed

Mystery of Literal and Spiritual ‘Black Holes’Revealed

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness; God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up in glory. 1 Timothy 3: 16, N.K.J.V.

I’m an alumnus of PUCA Class ‘67. I fondly remember the late Reuel Reyes whom I know many of you fellow alumni do as well. During those halcyon years he, to me, was the second budding  younger genius of the campus to the primary one, Dr. Richli.  Reuel was the assistant Physics class instructor (a subject I had zero love for, not much to the delight of my aunt, the late Ester G. Manalaysay AKA as the “Miss Man” to her students of College Physics and other PUCIANs).
