THE ONLY TIME THE SUN & MOON STOOD STILL.
“Then Joshua….said in the sight of Israel, ‘Sun, stand still over Gibeon; and Moon in the valley of Ajalon. So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the people had revenge upon their enemies. Is this not written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven; and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day. And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the Lord heeded the voice of a man; for the Lord fought for Israel.” Joshua 10:12-14,NKJV.
This incredible GLOBAL miracle when earth time literally stood still for a day, was a one-and-done occurrence by fiat and divine edict. Thus, neither the sun nor the moon, which regulate earth time, does not and will not ever stand still again.
So what has this to do today, according to the “more sure word of prophecy”? First, it is Satan who is causing all the calamities, disasters, wars, DISEASE, accidents by sea and land, great conflagrations, fierce tornadoes, cyclones, tsunamis, earthquakes, in every place and in a thousand forms.” Job’s book reveals the controversy taking place between Christ and Satan which our physical eyes cannot yet see. It assures that Satan can only do what God allows, to serve a high and holy purpose, and therefore is in full control “yesterday, today and forever.”
Since time does not pause even for a moment, hence inexorably moves on, what may we expect (unless God in His mercy intervenes and extends probation time), by way of the prophetic calendar moving forward?
E.G. White continues:
These visitations are to become more frequent and disastrous. Destruction shall be upon the world. The beast of the field will groan and the earth will languish [see Isa. 24:3-5]. And then the great deceiver [working thru his agencies] will persuade men that those who serve God are causing these evils….. It will be declared that the nation is offending God by the violation of the Sunday-sabbath, and that this sin has brought calamities which will not cease until Sunday observance shall be strictly enforced, and that those who present the claims of the fourth commandment, thus destroying reverence for Sunday, are troublers of the nation, preventing restoration of divine favor and temporal prosperity.” Ibid., p. 408.
“Our land is in jeopardy. The time is drawing on when it’s legislators shall so abjure the principles of Protestantism as to give countenance to the Romish apostasy. The people whom God has so marvelously wrought, strengthening them to throw off the galling yoke of popery, will by a national act give vigor to the corrupt faith of Rome, and thus arouse the tyranny which only waits for a touch to start again into cruelty and despotism. With rapid steps we are already approaching this period. When Protestants churches shall seek the support of the secular power, thus following the example of the apostate church, for opposing which their ancestors endured the fiercest persecution, then there will be a national apostasy which will end only in national ruin.” Ibid, p.410.
There you have it. It is this national apostasy that will result in national ruin, not the other way around.
“And Joshua said unto them, ‘Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the Lord do to all your enemies against who ye fight.” Joshua 10:25. NMF
