The Dragon, Beast, and His Image

The true ground of divine worship, not of the seventh day merely, but of all worship, is found in the distinction between the Creator and His creatures.

This great fact can never become obsolete, and must never be forgotten.

Obedience is the highest form of worship. Mankind’s final test and war will be over the issue of religious liberty and worship not over oil or water. I strongly encourage everyone to study and/or review The Great Controversy by Ellen G. White and her other books of the Conflict of the Ages series by quoting extensively from chapter 25, “God’s Law Immutable” below. It exposes that fears of Shariah law, Muslim takeover of the world, Russia, China, North Korea, and a nuclear “Third World war,” etc. are misplaced.

For the scope and profound nature of the subjects, this pamphlet is concise and comprehensive. It quickly answers questions which have puzzled many Bible students into either giving up further study or taking up Futurism which discards God’s system of enlargement, i.e., type-antitype, “comparing scripture with scripture,” studying it “line upon line, here a little there a little” (Isa. 28: 9-13). The Bible, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit is its own expositor, not church teachings based on man’s philosophies and traditions. We repeat the first paragraph of our May 15, 2015 issue, Part VIII: “The recent Bull of Indiction of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, Misericordiae Vultus, declared a Holy Year by Pope Francis will open December 8, 2015 on “the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception” and concludes a year later “with the liturgical Solemnity of Christ the King on Nov, 20, 2016.” Of the latter date, it says further, “On that day as we seal the Holy Door, we shall be filled, above all, with a sense of gratitude and thanksgiving to the Most Holy Trinity for having granted us an extraordinary time of grace”. . . .“The granting of indulgences as a traditional theme of the Jubilee year is expressed in section No. 22. To all freedom-loving Americans at heart, Happy July Fourth! This annual American federal holiday isthe official day commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence from the United Kingdom (Great Britain). The original declaration was prepared on July 2 by a Committee of Five, its principal author being Thomas Jefferson, assisted by John Adams, second president of the U.S., and leading advocate of the independence movement. The Continental Congress then debated on it, revised its wording and approved it on July 4. Today we celebrate the 238thMemorial Day of that Declaration of Independence.

Graven is from the Hebrew pecel andpacal, “carved (graven) images;” “to carve, whether wood or stone.” See the following verses on idolatry: Lev. 26:1, 2; Deut. 4: 15-19; Judges 17: 1-6; 2 Kings 17: 41; 2 Chronicles 34: 7; Psalms 78:58; Isaiah 40: 19, 20; Jer. 8: 19; Hosea 11: 12; Micah 5: 12-15; Nahum 1: 14; Habakkuk 2: 18, 19; Acts 17: 29; 1 Cor. 8: 1-13. “THOU SHALT HAVE NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME.” Exo. 20: 3; Deut. 5: 7. This is the first commandment of God’s law that is as glorious, eternal, and unchanging as its Author. “Jehovah, the eternal, self-existent One, himself the source and sustainer of all, is alone entitled to supreme reverence and worship. Man is forbidden to give any other object the first place in his affections or service. Are We Preparing for the Latter Rain?– Part XXXIV

A Sabbath-Keeping People

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1: 1. In the bosom of these very first words of the Bible is cradled all the other truths following: the history of creation; the fall of man and its cause, the nature of the great controversy between God and Satan; the plan of redemption prepared before the fall, and the glorious restoration of all that was lost on account of sin—both of man and the whole earth.

Because man alone, the crowning act of creation, was created in the image and likeness of the Creator, it was natural for him to joyfully keep the memorial day of God’s appointment. It was in their nature to love, adore, obey, worship, and glorify their Creator who had made a perfect world and a perfect Eden home for them before creating them. The earth was designed to be Adam’s kingdom. Genesis 1: 26, 27.
