THE ENMITY IN GOD’S GRACE

The apostle Paul declared: “For I am not ashamed of the GOSPEL of Christ; for it is the POWER unto salvation to everyone that believes…for therein is the righteousness of God revealed” by whom we have received GRACE and apostleship for OBEDIENCE to the faith among all nations, for His name.”  Rom. 1: 16, 17, 5, 6.

“I will put ENMITY between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed, and thou shalt bruise his head.’ Gen. 3:15. The divine sentence pronounced against Satan after the fall of man, was also a prophecy, embracing all ages to the close of time, and FORESHADOWING the great conflict [or controversy] to engage ALL the races of men [not only black or white] who should live upon the earth.”

THE ‘MORE EXCELLENT NAME’

“Being made so much better than the angels, as He hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.”

Heb. 1:4, A.V.

In a personal study I made many years ago on the significance of names in the Bible, using my Exhaustive Concordance of the King James Version (containing the Hebrew and Greek Lexicons), I counted the names and appellations and titles attached/ascribed to Christ: a total of 227!

The Jews attempted to stone Him to death at least twice for saying, ‘I and My Father are one,” accusing Him of blasphemy! See John 10: 22-39 first.

The first chapter of Hebrews introduces Christ as God, deity; the second chapter reveals Christ as a Man, His humanity. Now, read Hebrews 1: 4-14 first before proceeding.

THE LIVING, SEALED, TRANSLATED 144,000 FINAL ISRAEL

“And after these things I saw 4 angels standing on the 4 corners of the earth, holding the 4 winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor in any tree. And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the SEAL of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the 4 angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, TILL WE HAVE SEALED the servants of our God in their foreheads. And I heard the NUMBER of them which were sealed: and there were sealed 144,000 of the tribes of the children of Israel.” Rev.7: 1-4, AV. See verses 5-8 then compare to Rev. 14: 1-5.

“To complete Christ’s work and make it efficacious for man, such a demonstration must be made. It must be shown [‘to men, the world, and angels’] that man can overcome as Christ overcame.”

THE THIRD PHASE OF CHRIST’S WORK IN HIS HUMAN NATURE FOR OUR SALVATION

“When Christ at last cried out, ‘It is finished,’ He had completed the SECOND PHASE of His work. But there was still THIRD PHASE before Him, which included His SESSION at the right hand of God as [the penitent sinner’s merciful High Priest, all-powerful Mediator, Intercessor and Advocate] and the demonstration which He was to make IN His saints in earth—a work closely connected with that which He was to do in the SANCTUARY ABOVE, and vital to our [eternal] salvation.”

“Christ had demonstrated in HIS OWN BODY that it was possible to be completely victorious over sin; but the question would naturally arise as to whether His victory was merely a SiNGULAR DEMONSTRATION made possible by His unique relation to the Father OR whether OTHERS could do what He had done? Could men overcome as He had overcame?”

“Satan had once challenged God, accusing [the patriarch] Job for serving Him for ULTERIOR [self-serving, self-promoting] motives. ‘Doth Job serve God for nought (nothing)?’ he had sneeringly asked.

Job 1:9.

“To show the falsity of Satan’s ACCUSATIONS, he was permitted [by God] to test Job. Satan applies every possible torture, but Job did not sin. At last Satan retired defeated. Job had STOOD THE TEST and proved Satan’s accusation false. ‘Though He slay me yet will I TRUST Him,’ he exclaimed. Job 13:15.”

CHRIST SUFFERS GOD’S WRATH AGAINST SIN ALONE AT GETHSEMANE

“I have trodden the wine press alone, and from the peoples no one was with Me.”

Isa. 63:3, NKJV.

So prophesied the gospel prophet regarding Christ’s superhuman agony at Gethsemane culminating at Golgotha. The Greek ‘Gethsemani is a transliteration of the Aramaic ‘Gath Shemani,’ meaning, ‘oil press.’ It cannot be mere coincidence that this specially appointed place located in the western side of Mount of Olives was called an ‘oil press’ where Christ would fulfill the prophecy that He would ‘trod the winepress alone’ for our salvation.

HOW ONE LOSES THE POWER HE ONCE HAD TO DISTINGUISH BETWEEN TRUTH AND ERROR

“Whenever the CAUSE exists, the same RESULTS will follow He who deliberately STIFLES his convictions of duty because it INTERFERES with his inclinations, will FINALLY lose the power to distinguish between truth and error.”

“The understanding becomes DARKENED, the conscience CALLOUS, the heart HARDENED, and the soul is SEPARATED from God. Where the message of divine truth is SPURNED or SLIGHTED, there the [generic] church will be enshrouded in darkness; faith and love grow cold, and estrangement and dissension enter. Church members center their interests and energies in WORLDLY pursuits, and sinners become HARDENED in their impenitence.”
