FROM YOUR PASTOR’S DESK:
THE ‘EXPRESS IMAGE OF THE PERSON’ OF GOD THE FATHER
“Who being the. . . . express image of His person.”
Heb. 1: 3, A.V.
For a Biblical reference on the glory of God being the sum total of His divine attributes, see Exo. 33: 18; 34: 6,7.
“Man was created [never evolved] in the image of God, but Christ [‘the only-begotten of the Father’] is the EXPRESS image of the Father. As a seal impresses an exact image of itself upon the wax, so Christ is the EXACT counterpart of God.”
“Image is a translation of the Greek ‘charakter’ from which we derive our ‘character.’ Originally ‘charakter’ meant the TOOL used for engraving or marking. Later it came to mean the MARK itself.”
“The same development in some English words. Thus ‘seal’ means an instrument for making an impression upon a receiving medium, but it also means the IMPRESSION itself. So ‘stamp’ is both the instrument and mark produced.” Andreasen, The Book of Hebrews, p. 50.
Take special note of this vital insights as we will be considering the critical subject of the “marking” and “sealing” of God’s people as revealed in Ezekiel 9 versus those who receive the “mark of the beast in their foreheads or in their hands.”
Be blessed and stay blessed by appropriating the conditions specified to receive such. NMF
