harmony with what the Holy Scriptures say about the matter. This is not to say, however, that proffered opinions are to not to entertained in any discussions. They are, however, to be subject to the principle enunciated here as guided by the Holy Spirit and done in the humble and spirit of true investigation of truth.

The following verses are where this principle is repeated (all quoted from the New King James Version):

“Whoever is worthy of death shall be put to death on the testimony of two or three witnesses, but he shall not be put to death on the testimony of one witness.” Deut. 17:6.  “One witness shall not against a man concerning any iniquity or any sin that he commits; by the mouth of two or three witnesses the matter shall be established.” ch. 19:15.

The wise man tells shows us the far-reaching application of this principle: “Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not easily broken.” Eccl. 4:12: Three-fold is stronger than two-fold.

“Moreover, if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained a brother. But if he will not hear you, take with you one or two more, that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. . . .  Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” Matt. 18:15-20:

Defending His self-witness against the accusation of the Pharisees, Jesus said: “And yet if I do judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent Me. It is also written in your law that the testimony of two men is true. I am One who bears witness of Myself, and the Father who sent Me bears witness of Me.” John 8:16-18. If they truly accepted God, as they claimed they did, they had to accept Jesus as the Son of God by the overwhelming testimony of His life, teachings, and miraculous works, which only divinity could do. By the time they had condemned Jesus to death, they had not only rejected Him, God in the flesh, they rejected God the Father, and the work of Holy Spirit. It was by the divine testimony of the Three Persons of the Godhead that they sealed their own eternal fate.

On the order that must be maintained in church meetings at which time many new  converts coming from different countries spoke different “tongues” or languages and dialects, Paul says: “If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret. But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in the church, and let him speak to himself and to God. Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge. . . and the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.” 1 Cor. 14: 27-32.

Paul once more declared: “Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the others judge.” 1 Cor. 14:29. “This will be the third time I am coming to you. By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established.” 2 Cor. 13: 1: Prophet here is the Greek prophetes, meaning, “an inspired speaker; by extension, a poet.” Strong’s Greek Dictionary. … (click “Next Post” to continue)
