TIME-SETTING AFTER 1844 HAVE, AND WILL FAIL IN PREDICTIONS (Continued)

Jesus said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in His own power. Acts 1: 7, K.J.V.

“The times and seasons God has put into His own power. And why has not God given is this knowledge? —Because we would not make a right use of it if He did. A condition of things would result from this knowledge among our people that would greatly retard the work of God in preparing a people to stand in the great day to come . . . . Jesus told His disciples to ‘watch,’ but not for definite time. His followers are to be in the position of those who are listening to the orders of their Captain: they are to watch, wait, pray, and work, as they approach the coming of their Lord; but no one will be able to predict just when that time will come; for ‘of that day and hour knoweth no man.’ You will not be able to say that He will come in one, two, or five years, neither are you to put off His coming by stating that it may not be for ten or twenty years. . . . We are not to know the definite time either for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit [in the latter rain—a precious subject we discussed in a series not too long ago] or for the coming of the Lord.” – Ellen G. White, Evangelism, p. 221.

Get ready! Get ready! Get ready! “Prepare to meet thy God, O Israel! Amos 4: 12. Jesus said: “Be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” Matt. 24: 44. Paul declared: “But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly thatthe day of the Lord [the real ’Lord’s Day’—not Sunday!] so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as thief.” 1 Thessalonians 5: 1-4.

TIME-SETTING AFTER 1844 HAVE, AND WILL ALL FAIL IN TIME PREDICTIONS

And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire. And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth . . . .And the angel which I saw stand on the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, and sware by him that liveth forever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer.” Revelation 10: 1-6, K.J.V. (Compare to verses 1-11; ch. 14: 6-12; Daniel. 12: 4-13)

The mighty angel–Christ Himself. “The mighty angel who instructed John was no less a personage than Jesus Christ. Setting His right foot on the sea, and his left on the dry land, shows the part which He is actingin the closing scenes of the great controversy with Satan. The position denotes His supreme power and authority over the whole earth. The controversy has waxed stronger and more determined from age to age and will continue to do so, to the concluding scenes when the masterly working of the powers of darkness shall reach their height. Satan, united with evil men, will deceive the whole world and the churches who receive not the love of the truth [see 2 Thess. 2: 9-12, K.J.V.] But the mighty angel demands the attention. He cries with a loud voice. He is to show the power and authority of His voice to those who have united with Satan to oppose the truth.

Bible Numerology: NUMBER THREE – Part X

NO PROPHETIC TIME EXTENDS BEYOND 1844

We also have the prophetic word made sure, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and morning star rises in your hearts: knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke, as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1: 19-21, N.K.J.V.

More than anything else, prophecies fulfilled are the timeless monuments impervious to corrosion and eloquent witnesses throughout the history of mankind of God’s perfect wisdom and knowledge of the end from the beginning as “the Alpha and Omega,” and His ultimate direction and control over the affairs of man and the earth (Daniel 2: 21) without suppressing or withholding the individual will—the power of choice He Himself created into man as a free moral agent to discern and choose between righteousness and unrighteousness, truth and error;
